Lpn Collective Agreement Nova Scotia

The agreement will involve greater coherence between hospitals and a wage increase of 0.5 per cent to 1.5 per cent, retroactive to 2014. As a member, your negotiating committee is pleased to announce that your interim agreement has been ratified 100%… In the absence of an agreement on sickness and pension benefits due to the negotiation or mediation process, the arbitrator must grant the status quo, as mediator adjudicator William Kaplan issued his award in past agreements, which establishes a collective agreement for approximately 7,500 acute care officers working across the province with the Nova Scotia Health Authority and the IWK. In a statement, the Nova Scotia Health Authority and the IWK Health Centre welcomed the new agreement. This board is composed of Unifor, CUPE, NSNU and NSGEU. This board is now responsible for collective bargaining for all acute hospital workers in Nova Scotia. By the end of 2017, the Council had made minimal progress and almost total closure at the negotiating table. A conciliator was then invited to intervene and yet no real progress was made. As a result, last week, members of the Public Health Committee gave their bargaining commission a 93% strike mandate.

Mediation – the arbitration agreement provides for six-year (2014-2020) wage increases, including retroactive compensation, protects important benefits and provides a mediation arbitration process that will conclude all collective agreements for the four units, health care, support services and administrators by the end of 2018. The new agreement is the result of a decision issued Tuesday by Mediator arbitrator William Kaplan and applies to registered nurses, licensed nurse practitioners and nurses from the Council of Care Unions. The primary objective of the strike vote and the sending of the basic service plan to the Labour Council is to create sufficient pressure for employers and the government to conduct sound negotiations and conclude a new collective agreement. We are still finalizing an essential services plan with the Nova Scotia Health Authority. All monetary improvements to this new collective agreement take effect today, with the exception of those in which the agreement sets a different date. For example, some salary increases are retroactive to 2016 and some will only take place in the future.
